Pavone Exhibit Paris Maison Rocher

A salon exhibition curated by Ashlee Harrison and Etienne Macret. PAVONE brings the spirit of the Parisian salon into a contemporary context, engaging in a dialogue between art and design while exploring themes of reverie, myth, and the ethereal. In “Like Two Drops of Water” an aluminum cord suspends a glass orb above a grounded partner. The work references the atomic phenomenon whereby two drops of water merge into an undifferentiated whole–a phenomenon parallelled by romantic partnering, when two discrete identities merge into a singular “couple.” This metaphor is reinforced by the design’s otherworldly, lush beauty. Where would such a lamp live, if not in rose-hued fantasy? If the title calls to mind a love song, this is because there is likley one embedded within the work. In Cattaneo’s oeuvre, personal narrative is the ground on which the whimsical and surreal thrives.
